Job summary

Nuttall Bowser are a specialist bridge engineering consultancy start-up, heading into our fourth year of business, based in Bristol operating throughout the UK and beyond.  We work across numerous sectors delivering bridge engineering services across all asset lifecycle stages from asset management through to detailed design for asset owners, contractors, property developers and consulting partners.   We are renowned for the quality of service we provide and differentiate our client and employee experiences through embodying our values: ‘Agile, Anticipate, Enhance, & Together’.  

We are based in the Generator Building within the Finzels Reach area of central Bristol – situated in a harbourside setting with just a 5min walk to Cabot Circus and a 10min walk to the train station. The Generator Building is grade II listed structure modernly restored to celebrate its heritage features and history, providing an appropriate fit to our business capability and culture.

Responsibilities

• Authoring role in the design of new bridge structures including analysis and detailing

• Inspection, assessment and strengthening of road/rail bridges and other structures

• Participate/lead examinations and surveys pertaining to assessment, repairs/strengthening, and design

• Support recent gradautes and apprentices

• Assist senior leaders in developing all aspects of the business

Minimum Requirements

• 2 years plus post graduate experience in bridges discipline

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering at least 2-1 classification

• Previous experience in examination, assessment and design of bridges

• Working knowledge of Eurocode, British & DMRB standards

• Willingness to travel throughout the UK to undertake site visits

Preferred Requirements

• 3 years plus post graduate experience in bridges discipline

• Working towards chartership with ICE or IStructE

• Previous experience in non-linear buckling Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

• Previous experience of reinforced concrete and/or steelwork design

• Clean UK driving license
